A question with no answer, answered

It's the age-old argument...should men put the seat down, or should women put it up? I have the answer. For years I've said, "Because I clean it, that's why you have to put it down." But I have a better, technical and medical reason why it is the man's responsibility (you know, other than plain old common sense) to adjust the seat. Anyway, men should definitely put the seat down because toilet seat touching of any sort would be done prior to the washing of the hands, not upon bathroom entry. Am I right or am I right?  

I feel really good to have a honest to God scientific reason to end this controversy.  Men can't really argue with the logic.  Ladies of the world, you're welcome.
